Pelvic organs prolapse is a syndrome of pelvic floor and pelvic organ prolapse, which occurs due to the weakening of anatomical support in women of different ages, both in the reproductive period and in the menopausal period, and in most cases is asymptomatic, which leads to a high prevalence in the population. The most frequent provoking reasons are pregnancy and childbirth in the anamnesis. The treatment may be conservative or surgical, but the question of the choice depends on the degree and the aggravation of the patient’s anamnesis.

METHODOLOGY

Clinical guidelines of the last 5 years were used to write the review, moreover, the electronic database PubMed was used. Keywords were searched for: «pelvic organ prolapse», «POP», «UI», «urinary incontinence», and 2042 articles were retrieved and carefully reviewed both in abstract and full text format, resulting in 13 articles being selected.

CONCLUSION

The prevalence of prolapse is high, women with prolapse should be screened to adequately assess the loss of anatomical support, and treatment options should be tailored personally.
