Premature rupture of amniotic fluid, that is, the rupture of amniotic fluid before the onset of labor and at any stage of pregnancy occurs in 10.7% of all pregnancies. In 18—20% of cases, this complication is combined with perinatal mortality. Until now, the question of the etiopathogenesis of premature rupture of amniotic fluid remains open and controversial. «Maturity» of the cervix is one of the main factors in the readiness of a woman’s body for childbirth. In more than 90% of cases, an anomaly of labor is formed against the background of an immature cervix. Thus, this factor is critical in a favorable outcome for the mother and fetus. This article outlines modern strategies for preparing the cervix for childbirth, as well as possible complications when using them. Today, this problem is relevant in practical obstetrics, since the development of obstetric tactics to reduce obstetric complications depends on its solution.
