Abstract:

The literature review represents information about the features of reproductive potential in the perimenopausal period: relatively high fertility; decrease in sexual activity; principally one sexual partner; reducing the risk of infection which are transmitted through the sexual contact and AIDS; implemented by reproductive plans; increase in number of extragenital pathology, which limits the choice of contraceptive method; increase in number of gynecological diseases. The usage of intrauterine levonorgestrel-containing system in the perimenopausal period is substantiated. The use of intrauterine levonorgestrel-releasing system creates reliable contraception, provides control of menstrual bleeding. This intrauterine levonorgestrel-releasing system has metabolic neutrality and lack of counteraction treatment effect of estrogen in regard to menopausal symptoms those occur in the transition period.
