Objective. To investigate the effects of prolonged radiation exposure on the health of females and their offsprings. Material and methods. The study cohort included females first employed at the Mayak nuclear production association (PA) between 1948—1982 and followed up till 31.12.08. The vast majority of females from the study cohort (83.1%) were first employed and exposed to ionizing radiation at fertile age. The mean age at first employment was 27.32±0.11 years. Results. The study cohort females were occupationally exposed to radiation over prolonged periods. The mean total dose from external gamma-rays to ovaries and uterus was 0.34±0.01 Gy. The mean absorbed dose from internal alpha-particles to ovaries was 0.017±0.002 Gy. A supplementary structural section entitled as «Reproductive Health» was developed to update the «Clinic» medical and dosimetry database. The quality control check of the developed database revealed that complete data of high quality were available for females residing in Ozyorsk only. The comparative analysis showed statistically significant differences in almost all main characteristics of reproductive health between the analyzed groups of females. Most of them were attributed to a short follow-up period and as a consequence the lack of complete information on non-residents. Conclusions. The statistically significant differences in main characteristics of reproductive health were revealed between residents and non-residents.
