Objective. To study some metabolic capabilities of opportunistic staphylococci isolated from patients with chronic prostatitis. Material and methods. Adhesive properties, Ig and lactoferrin degradation were investigated by standard methods with commercial reagents. Results. Significant differences between microorganisms isolated from semen of healthy donors and patients with chronic prostatitis were found. The adhesive and anti-immunoglobulin activity in first group was significantly higher. Bacteria isolated from the semen of healthy patients were more resistant to the damaging effects of lactoferrin. Conclusion. Persistent pathogens can cause degradation of different factors of antibacterial resistance and local immune deficiency. It may induce the severe microflora disorders and subfertility.
