Abstract:

Objective. To assess the ART efficacy in patients with high sperm DNA fragmentation. Material and methods. 18 patients with high sperm DNA fragmentation were investigated. After preliminary therapy the ART were used for infertility treatment. Results. A direct correlation between pregnancy rate and the number of sperm DNA damage was revealed. Conclusion. DNA damage may serve as a diagnostic marker of paternal negative effect on preimplantation human development. Sperm DNA fragmentation affects the early stages of embryonic development, especially the stage of blastocyst formation and determines the pregnancy rate in ART programms.
