Abstract:

Pancreatic cancer is seen predominantly in elderly and senile people. At the same time, there are no clear criteria to determine operability in senile patients with resectable periampullary tumors. The extensive nature of a plannable operation and the high risk of subsequent complications frequently make physicians refuse to treat patients older than 75 years of age even if they have no obvious contraindications to surgery. The paper describes successful duodenopancreatosplenectomy for pancreatic cancer in an 87-year-old patient.
