Abstract:

At present, there is an increase in the incidence of malignant thyroid tumors and in the number of patients with distant metastases, accounting for 10% of the total number of patients. The optimal treatment option for low-grade metastatic thyroid cancer is combined therapy that encompasses surgery, radioactive iodine therapy, radiotherapy, or thermal ablation. The paper describes a clinical case of one-stage thyroidectomy with total removal of the sternum and fragments of 7 ribs (I-VII) on both sides for low-grade metastatic thyroid cancer, with one-stage complex elimination of chest wall defect. The performed treatment yielded a satisfactory functional and cosmetic result and ensured complete social adaptation in the female patient.
