Abstract:

Flow cytometric investigation of tumor cells immunophenotype is one of the key diagnostic tools in pediatric and adult acute leukemia (AL). As the cytometric data are also applied for risk stratification in large multicenter trials, it is necessary to provide maximal possible methodology harmonization. Nevertheless until now it is difficult to find any strict guidelines for the final reporting of AL immunophenotyping results. Variability in the report formats could lead to misinterpretation of flow data by clinical doctors and hence to mistakes in AL diagnostics. Report should not contain any descriptions and reasoning, it must be concise, clear and understandable for clinical doctors. In the present paper possible recommendations for reporting of AL immunophenotyping are shown.
