ABSTRACT We studied the trichoscopic pattern of telogen hair loss in patients with autoimmune thyroiditis (AIT). The study was aimed at investigating the features of telogen alopecia in patients with AIT. Material and methods. The study included 51 females aged 15 to 58 years. Group 1 included 22 female patients with telogen alopecia and AIT; group 2 included 18 females with telogen alopecia without AIT; group 3 included 11 females without telogen alopecia and without AIT. Videotrichoscopy was carried out using the device with magnifying lenses with 100x and 400x magnification. The measuring sensor was placed on the scalp. Hair density and thickness were measured in the parietal, temporal, and occipital areas. Results. Hair thinning in the parietal and occipital areas was observed in 31.8 and 40.9% of patients with AIT, hair loss in the occipital area — in 9.1%, as opposed to 0, 5.6 and 50%, respectively, in patients without AIT (p<0.05). Decrease in hair thickness in the temporal area and hair density in the temporal and occipital areas was observed regardless of the presence or absence of AIT (p<0.05). Conclusions. Trichoscopic pattern of telogen alopecia in patients with AIT is characterized by hair thinning in the parietal and occipital areas.
