Rational and effective treatment of inflammatory diseases of female genital organs is a challenging but extremely urgent problem. Difficulties in the therapy of infectious vulvovaginitis of mixed etiology are associated with the need for thorough bacteriological examination, complexity of the choice of a medication (since the treatment should be complex and targeted at all types of etiologic agents); the need to both suppress pathogenic microflora and restore normal vaginal microflora. Objective — the study was aimed at assessing the efficacy and safety of Elgyna in patients with bacterial vaginosis and vulvovaginal candidiasis. Material and methods. An open direct non-comparative study included 62 patients. Clinical efficacy of the therapy was determined by the state of vaginal biocenosis as assessed by real-time PCR using the Femoflor-13 reagents. Results. The results suggest that Elgyna is highly effective in treatment of episodes of concomitant infectious pathology (vulvovaginal candidiasis and bacterial vaginosis) in the lower genital tract of females. Low incidence of side effects and high level of compliance with therapy was observed.
