Abstract:

Serological diagnosis of syphilis is currently the most popular method and includes a wide range of diagnostic techniques. However, the use of these methods raises a number of problems, often bewildering dermatologists. They can be divided into the following three main groups: diagnostic errors at various stages of the investigation; false-positive or biological false-positive reactions; mismatching of the results of individual studies. The article addresses the issues related to the existing problems of serological diagnosis of syphilis; provides the variants of combinations of non-treponemal and treponemal tests, provides the analysis of some clinical situations in the diagnosis of syphilis by ELISA and microprecipitation reaction, which are most commonly used in routine serological practice.
