The aim of the study was to determine the relationship of ventricular arrhythmias (VA) with anxiety neurotic disorders (AND) and assessment of treatment efficacy of arrhythmia using: monotherapy with psychotropic agent (PA), psychotherapy, the combination of PA and psychotherapy. Material and methods. There were 78 patients with idiopathic VA drawn from 400 patients after examination (ECG, Holter ECG monitoring, echocardiography, treadmill exercise test, coronary angiography and MRI when necessary). In the study there were included 66 patients (29 men and 37 women, mean age — 42.5±7.0 years) with AND after psychological examination and a consultation by a psychotherapist. All patients were divided into 4 groups: 1 — received PA (adaptol), 2 — psychotherapy, 3 — combination therapy (PA (adaptol) + psychotherapy) and 4 — without treatment. The determining factor in the choice of treatment was the desire of a patient, 15 patients abstained from therapy (they were included in the control group 4). Results. After 3 months the number of patients with a high level of state and trait anxiety in groups with the therapy decreased statistically significant, while in the group with combination therapy (group 3) the decrease was most significant in comparison with groups 1 and 2. In control 4-th group there was observed а tendency of increasing the number of patients with high levels of state and trait anxiety. After treatment there was registered a significant decrease in the number of ventricular ectopic complexes in all groups with treatment (groups 1—3), while in the group with combined therapy (psychotherapy and adaptol) the effect was most pronounced. In the control group, worsened ly. Conclusions. The findings of this work indicate that the psychogenic factor in patients with arrhythmias and comorbide AND plays a significant and sometimes decisive role in the genesis of «idiopathic» VA. It is possible to recommend the use of PA (in particular, adaptol) in combination with psychotherapy in the treatment of psychogenic VA.
