Purpose — evaluation of complications of esophageal stenting and esophageal anastomoses by self-expanding metal stents. Material and methods. The insertion of a metal self-expanding stent was performed in 213 patients. Results. 44 patients (20.65%) had complications with the installation or at different postoperative periods (during stent implantation in 7 patients, in the postoperative period — in 37). Operative intervention due to stent migration to the jejunum and the occurrence of acute intestinal obstruction was carried out in 2 patients. In other cases, the complications were corrected using endoscopic techniques. Re-stenting, including a «stent-in-stent», was performed for 21 patients. Conclusion. Emerging complications in the postoperative period indicate the relevance for dynamic observation of patients, are specific due to the peculiarities of the stent construction and can be eliminated by endoscopic techniques. The data obtained require further systematization and study.
