Abstract:

Awareness of the patients on the preference of laparoscopic route before hysterectomy remains inadequate. The acceptance rate remains low and depends upon the social and educational status of the patient. The low levels of understanding of the access risks and benefits lead to poor motivation before hysterectomy and high percentage of frustration and possible legal actions after it. The authors stress upon the need of the patient involvement in decision-making. This could prevent at least some of legal issues and ease the acceptance of laparoscopic hysterectomy.
