Abstract:

The widespread application of diagnostic gastrointestinal endoscopy and endoscopic studies with chromoscopy, optical magnification, narrow band imaging and the use of endoscopy of ultrahigh magnification (confocal laser endomicroscopy and endocytoscopy) are able to diagnose stomach and colon cancer at the early stages. In Japan, early forms of cancer make up 50% of the total number of operated patients with stomach cancer, while in Europe, the United States and Russia — less than 10%. Endoscopic treatment of patients with early forms of stomach and colon cancer is currently the gold standard if strict compliance with selection criteria is present. Endoscopic mucosal resection (EMR) as widely used in Europe and Russia is less radical and effective than endoscopic mucosal resection with submucosal dissection (ESD). We presented our own experience in the treatment of patients with early forms of cancer of the gastrointestinal tract by using of ESD.
