Abstract:

The retrospective analysis of 2,657 medical records of the victims of road traffic accidents that took place in the city of Chelyabinsk is presented. It was shown that the majority of defects of the medical care at the stage of hospitalization were related to its poor organization whereas the defects of diagnostics, the treatment proper, and its continuity were less significant. Taken together, defects of the medical care were responsible for 25.3% of the fatal cases. The study revealed the most important factors that may enhance the potential risk of unfavourable outcomes of the treatment of the consequences of a road traffic accident by 2-9.5 times.
