Abstract:

Objective: to evaluate the efficacy of the Russian combined medication Vagiferon in treating patients with different forms of non-specific vaginal infectious diseases. Subjects and methods. A total of 70 patients with non-specific vaginal infectious diseases (nonspecific vaginitis (40%), vaginal candidiasis (32.9%), and bacterial vaginosis (27.1%)) were examined. During treatment, all the patients received the combined original Russian drug Vagiferon having antiviral, antifungal, antimicrobial, and antiprotozoal activities. They used one vaginal suppository overnight for 10 days. Results. Vagiferon demonstrated its high (100%) efficacy and safety in the treatment of patients with bacterial vaginosis and vaginal candidiasis. The therapeutic effectiveness in patients with nonspecific vaginitis was 85.7%. The undeniable advantage of the drug is that it may be used in monotherapy and in the first clinical signs of vaginal infections before the results of laboratory tests are obtained. The overall effectiveness of vagiferon therapy in patients with nonspecific vaginal infectious diseases was 91.4%. Conclusion. The high efficiency, compliance, and economic feasibility of using vagiferon enable the authors to recommend its use in wide clinical practice. The authors declare no conflict of interest.
