Objective — to comparatively study the efficiency of therapy due to the combined (systemic and local) and local exposure to cavitated Panavir solution in patients with HPV-associated cervititis. Subject and methods. The investigation enrolled 60 patients aged 25—49 years, in whom clinical, laboratory (cytological, bacterioscopic, bacteriological, molecular biological examinations of the vaginal contents, determination of human papillomavirus DNA) and instrumental (expanded colposcopy, ultrasonography) examinations revealed high-risk human papillomavirus infection and chronic cervicitis. Group 1 consisted of 32 patients who were treated with intravenous 0.004% Panavir solution 5.0 ml at a 48—72-hour interval in combination with local therapy with one vaginal Panavir suppository overnight for 10 days. In 28 patients from Group 2, exposed to low-frequency ultrasound, the vaginal and cervical mucosae were irrigated with cavitated Panavir solution 5.0 ml with a 1:20 dilution with physiological solution during 5 sessions. Results. The investigation indicated the high efficacy of Panavir used in both combined (systemic and local) and multimodality (irrigation with insonified solution) treatments. Conclusion. The simplicity and possibility of using the drug in the outpatient setting, as well as the absence of a systemic drug load are important arguments for the widespread clinical introduction of the method for irrigating the cervix uteri and vagina with cavitated solution of the antiviral drug Panavir to treat patients with papillomavirus infection and chronic cervicitis.
