Aim: to study the impact of intimate hygiene products, such as Vagilac soap and gel, on vaginal pH and the possibilities of preventing the development and progression of urogenital atrophy in postmenopausal women. Subjects and methods. Ninety postmenopausal patients with symptoms of mild urogenital atrophy who had used different intimate hygiene products for 3 months: 30 patients had Vagilac soap, 30 women who had also symptoms of dyspareunia used Vagilac gel, and 30 patients had conventional personal hygiene products. Vaginal pH, the degree of urogenital atrophy, and the intensity of vaginal atrophy symptoms were determined. Results. The application of Vagilac soap and gel to the patients in the two examined groups was found to cause positive changes in the vaginal mucosa, to reduce vaginal pH, and to stop the symptoms of dyspareunia in 80% of the women. Conclusion. The use of intimate hygiene products (Vagilac soap and gel) in postmenopausal women with initial manifestations of urogenital atrophy improves the vaginal mucosa, corrects vaginal pH, reduces its clinical manifestations, and prevents the progression of its symptoms.
