One hundred patients with acute inflammatory diseases of small pelvic organs, such as acute adnexitis, acute endomyometritis, were examined. Group 1 included 40 patients who used the antioxidant thiotriazoline (TTA) along with conventional anti-inflammatory therapy; 40 patients in Group 2 received TTA in combination with 10 sessions of extremely high-frequency (EHF) therapy. A comparison group (n=20) had conventional treatment only. The rate of lipid peroxidation (LPO) and the activity of the antioxidant defense system (AODS) were estimated. The most effective correction of inadequate AODS and consequently lower LPO rates proved to be achieved in Group 2, substantiating the expediency of concurrent use of the antioxidant TTA and electromagnetic radiation - EHF therapy.
