Four hundred and seventy-one female patients whose marriage was infertile were examined to study the prevalence and pattern of endocrine infertility in ethnic Armenian women. All the patients were divided into 3 groups according to their age: 1) 18 to 35 years; 2) 36 to 40 years; 3) 41 years or older. Concomitant endocrine infertility was established in 202 patients. The pattern of endocrine infertility was determined in 282 of the 377 patients of the first two groups who had different forms of endocrine disorders. The endocrine form of infertility was found to be leading (37.8%) among the causes of reproductive dysfunction in ethnic Armenian women and to be concurrent with other forms of infertility in 59.4%. There was a significant increase in the rate of endocrine infertility concurrent with uterine factor infertility in female patients of advanced reproductive age. An analysis of the pattern of endocrine infertility has revealed the high percentage (83.7%) of female patients with adrenal hyperandrogenism, which necessitates an in-depth study of clinical and laboratory findings in Armenian women with the stigmas of hyperandrogenism.
