Abstract:

Clinical and laboratory features were analyzed in 259 HIV-infected patients seeking gynecologic advice for pathology of the cervix uteri. Of them, 62.9% of the women were aged 21 to 30 years; 76.1% of the patients had Stage III (subclinical) disease. This cohort of patients was found to have dysplasia and cancer of the cervix uteri more frequently than the population. Laboratory tests could diagnose leukopenia in 20.1% of the patients, thrombocytopenia in 22.4%, anemia in 13.5%, elevated transaminase levels in 22.4%, and hypocoagulation disorders in 10.4%.
