Abstract:

By analyzing the mass of 2208 placentas obtained during late abortions and labors, the authors developed the percentile values of placental mass and defined the diagnostic value of the placental mass index in arterial hypertension, gestational diabetes mellitus and in the use of reproductive technologies. It was found that there were clinical and morphological correlations between placental mass, villous tree structural features, maternal diseases, pregnancy course and fetal state. Placental mass is one of the diagnostic and prognostic criteria for evaluating the morphofunctional state of the fetoplacental complex not only by a pathologist, but primarily by an obstetrician and a neonatologist.
