Abstract:

The course of pregnancy, labor, and neonatal status were analyzed in 38 patients with thyroid nodular goiter and in 49 with thyrotoxicosis. A control group comprised 50 pregnant women without thyroid pathology. Thyroid function and the status of the fetoplacental complex were studied in all the pregnant women. There were considerably higher rates of complicated pregnancy and labors in women with thyroid diseases. In the puerperas with thyroid pathology, perinatal outcomes were substantially worse than those in the control group. Pregnant women with thyroid diseases are a risk group for the development of complications and need preventive and therapeutic measures.
