BACKGROUND

Violation of the technology of crown preparation in the manufacture of prosthetic restorations is an actual problem in current orthopedic dentistry.

THE AIM OF THE STUDY

Was to examine the distribution of mechanical stresses in various loading variants of a three-unit prosthetic bridge in a mathematical experiment.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

A computational experiment has been conducted to identify the optimal restoration design from the point of view of theoretical mechanics and strength theory before the implementation of the author’s prosthetic bridge in the experiment and clinic. Virtual models were positioned in central occlusion using digital interocclusal registrations in a virtual articulator. The computational models were subjected to biomechanical loads.

RESULTS AND DISCUSSION

From the calculation of the ANSYS program, it was found that the maximum stress is observed at the fifth step of measurement, when the prosthetic bridge is able to withstand a multidirectional load with a force of 24.3 MPa. The most beneficial load for the prosthetic restoration functioning is the range from third to fifth step (14.5—24.3 MPa).

CONCLUSIONS

The probability of the orthopedic restoration failure exists at a load between 9.8 and 11.7 MPa. However, the larger the surface area is to be affected by the load, the less likely the prosthetic bridge is to be lost.
