Abstract:

Addressing issues of professional selection and occupational fitness for individuals working in settings of exposure to various occupational hazards should be based on the ethical, legal, and regulatory framework of the Russian Federation as defined by legislative and regulatory documents. April 01, 2021, new regulatory documents governing the procedure for mandatory preliminary and periodic medical examinations took effect: joint order of the Russian Ministry of Labour of 31 December 2020 No. 988n and Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation No. 1420n «On Approval of the List of Harmful and (or) Hazardous Occupational Factors and Jobs Requiring Mandatory Preliminary Medical Examinations...» and Order of the Russian Ministry of Health of 28 January 2021 No. 29n «On Approval of the Procedure for Mandatory Preliminary and Periodic Medical Examinations...». The introduction of new regulations of occupational selection and occupational fitness into the practice should contribute to the prevention of upper respiratory tract injuries in persons exposed in the workplace to harmful or hazardous workplace factors.
