Abstract:

OBJECTIVE

The objective of this scientific review is to summarize the current publications on the causes, prevalence, and ways to prevent and treat adhesions of the nasal cavity (NC).

MATERIAL AND METHODS

Search and analysis of publications in Russian and English using the following keywords were performed: «NC adhesions», «complications of endonasal surgery», «rhinoplasty complications». The search was carried out in the PubMed and RSCI databases.

RESULTS AND CONCLUSION

Adhesions of NC are quite common complications of endonasal surgery, and their treatment is a challenging task of current rhinosurgery. The improvement of the available methods of prevention and treatment, search for new prospective approaches for the prevention of cicatricial and obstructive disorders in NC are the most promising directions of further research. The significance of the comprehensive approach to the treatment of NC adhesions with the simultaneous use of laser technologies, splinting of the nasal septum, and intraoperative application of drugs with reparative properties was shown.
