Abstract:

The paper discusses the interchangeability of generic and brand-name drugs, the study of (pharmaceutical, pharmacokinetic) equivalence, and possible methodical difficulties in its estimation. It presents the new requirements of federal legislation on the recognition of drug interchangeability and proposes criteria for a good-quality generic drug, as well as an algorithm for comparative analysis of the main characteristics of brand-name and generic drugs, by using the systemic antibiotic levofloxacin from a group of fluoroquinolones as an example.
