Abstract:

Currently, the flow of scientific publications is huge, the number of studies is growing every day. Practicing physicians cannot always understand the quality of the scientific data obtained, so the question arises, which research data should be trusted and taken into account in practice? Evidence-based medicine is the integration of the best scientific evidence with clinical experience. It is important to learn to understand the value of each level of evidence for practice. Meta-analyses of randomized clinical trials (RCTs) and RCTs are the «gold standard» of evidence-based medicine. Based on data from preclinical studies or studies with a low level of evidence, it is impossible to draw serious conclusions about the effectiveness or safety of the drug, it is only possible to form a hypothesis that must be confirmed or refuted in RCTs, and then, in qualitative prospective observational studies. The reproductive behavior of modern women has changed: sexual debut at about 16 years old, the birth of the first child is delayed until 28—30 years. Therefore, a woman needs reliable contraception for a long time. Starting in hormonal contraception is a very important step, the younger the woman, the higher the fertility, therefore, first of all, reliable and safe contraception is needed.
