Iatrogenic damage to the eye following periorbital surgical correction

The authors analyze the main factors influencing iatrogenic damage to the eye during periorbital surgical correction. The role of baseline state of ocular surface, general anesthesia and key surgical stages provoking traumatic damage to the cornea or deeper neutrophic corneal changes and visual dysfunction was determined. The authors considered prevention of eye tissue lesion considering anatomy and physiology of the eye, as well as key points of surgical correction that can prevent the most common complications associated with disruption of eyelid function.
