DEAR COLLEAGUES!
With the beginning of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, we somehow forgot about the coronavirus. It's as if there was no pandemic at all. But a new wave is already coming from China. Will it be the last?
Infectious diseases have been raging on the planet since time immemorial. Galen described the first documented epidemic, known as Antonine's plague (though it was most likely smallpox). And then hundreds of millions of people died from bubonic plague, typhus, cholera and smallpox. The last such scourge was the "Spanish Plague" one hundred years ago.
In this issue we will talk about modern infections. New about COVID-19 based on a two-year study (diagnosis and treatment), SARS-CoV-2 and delirium, CNS lesions in HIV, and modern information technology in the service of medicine (OHDSI).
We have received invaluable assistance in the creation of this issue from our Belarusian colleagues. I would like to express special gratitude to Nikita Solovey, an old friend of our journal, the former chief infectious disease specialist of Minsk, PhD, a sincere, open and professional person!
Enjoy reading!
