Abstract:

Readers are already familiar with the materials of the previous issue devoted to laboratory diagnosis and monitoring of a new coronavirus infection (COVID-19). Most of the articles and reviews that made up this thematic issue were selected by T.V. Vavilova, chief freelance specialist in clinical laboratory diagnostics of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, who kindly agreed to become its curator. The published texts indicated the high demand for laboratory tests in the COVID-19 pandemic in two directions - etiological diagnosis of infection and follow-up of patients throughout the course of the disease and, above all, in its acute period. The second direction, and especially attempts at timely risk assessment of COVID-19 complications, is of particular importance for patients and the health care system.
