Abstract:

In less than 5 years, the quality of the out-of-laboratory part of the preanalytical phase (preanalytical) has been discussed in our journal in 21 articles of different formats (on average 1.1 per issue), including the paper “Comparative evaluation of quality indicators for the out-of-laboratory preanalytical phase” presented in this issue. Our first publication of the translation of a chapter from the pamphlet G. Lippi et al. “In vitro and in vivo hemolysis” [1] in 2017 was almost the best on this topic, but I’m afraid it went unnoticed by readers. And it contains many useful practical recommendations, such as how to take blood from a venous catheter with a syringe and transfer it to a vacuum tube. It is known that in intensive care units, nurses rarely draw blood from a heavy patient from the opposite arm free from the administration of drugs with a vacuum collection system, and therefore we need studies comparing ways of drawing blood and as a result of these studies such as recommendations such as drawing blood with a syringe and transferring it to a vacuum system.
