The description of strophulus’ clinical case in 4-year-old patient is presented. Strophulus (synonyms: urticaria papulosa infantum, prurigo infantum) is a clinical symptom complex, that appears against the background of constitutionally defected body reactivity and is characterized by allergic inflammation in skin. Clinically, the disease manifests as itchy, papulovesicular, urticarial or erythematosquamous rashes, that are usually localized on face, extensor surfaces of limbs, body and buttocks. Less frequently they are located on scalp, palms and foot soles or other parts of the skin. Strophulus is developed in infants and young children (mostly at the age from 5 months to 3 years) with exudative-catarrhal allergic diathesis, sometimes in children at an older age. Great importance in disease development is attached to the disorders of gastrointestinal tract and enzymopathies, accompanied with hypersensitivity reactions to food and drugs. Presented clinical case had certain diagnostic difficulties for practicing physicians. An extensive patient examination and the identification of comorbid pathology made it possible to choose adequate management and prescribe appropriate comprehensive treatment.
