Abstract:

Many professionals treat secondary skin infections in their daily practice. This complication is common in atopic dermatitis (up to 20%) and eczema (>70%). In addition to chronic dermatoses, secondary infections may occur in skin folds in case of inflammation. In chronic dermatoses, the most common pathogen is S. aureus, and in intertrigo Candida spp.; however, other microbes (bacteriae or fungi) may present. Therefore, combined glucocorticosteroids are the drugs of choice for the treatment of secondary skin infections. The combination of beclomethasone dipropionate, clotrimazole, and gentamicin is particularly promising, as beclomethasone is activated in the inflammation focus and thus provides high efficacy and safety. This article demonstrates the clinical efficacy of these drugs for many common dermatoses: allergic dermatitis, nummular eczema, cutaneous mycosis, and intertrigo. Combined glucocorticosteroids become the best choice for the rapid reduction of rashes and other symptoms.
