Abstract:

Aim — to analyze in vitro acaricidal effect of D-18 (AO «Retinoids», Russia) on Demodex spp. Material and methods. Samples of follicular tissues and oils were scraped in 10 healthy volunteers from the wings of the nose. The criterion for selection of mites in the experimental groups (5 from each volunteer, 50 parasites per a group) was advanced motional activity. All parasites belonged to Demodex folliculorum. Isolated mites on slide were placed in glycerin solution and closely surrounded by the acaricidal drug, its ointment base or control drug (ivermectin 1%) depending on the group. Motor activity of the mites was evaluated under the microscope every 30 min until the moment of death which was confirmed by no movement. Conclusion. Acaricidal ointment and control drug (ivermectin 1%) are equally effective against Demodex folliculorum in vitro.
