Abstract:

Treatment of genital lichen sclerosus (GLS) in male patients is still an important, but insufficiently explored medical and social problem. Long-term persistent course of the disease, which is often accompanied by the development of various complications and worsening of the quality of life, determines the need for adequate multidisciplinary approach to the management, treatment, and rehabilitation of GLS male patients. Objective. The study was aimed at improving the diagnosis and treatment of GLS male patients with allowance for the clinical and morphologic features of the disease and its course. Material and methods. The study involved 78 males aged 18 to 70 years, suffering from various forms of GLS. We conducted clinical, laboratory, and histological studies, as well as various methods of differential treatment. Results. Comprehensive treatment including penicillin, lidase, vasoactive and local corticosteroids, and physiotherapy resulted in pronounced therapeutic effect in 82% of patients.
