Dry skin results from a number of chronic skin diseases, as well as administration of certain medications. Disorders of lipid metabolism, differentiation of keratinocytes, and regulation of the natural moisturizing factor play a prominent role in the pathogenesis of dry skin syndrome. This cutaneous condition can be improved using various emollients. Products that contain pro-ceramides and some amino acids contribute to deeper skin hydration and recovery of skin barrier, which is reflected in the main corneometeric values. The authors present their own clinical experience with Cetaphil Restoraderm products in patients with chronic dermatoses accompanied by significant xerosis, such as chronic eczema, atopic dermatitis, and psoriasis. The study included 34 patients aged 18 to 59 years. Prior to and during administration of Cetaphil Restoraderm products, all patients were examined for corneometeric values of the skin. Positive dynamics was observed 7 days after the beginning of administration of these products. By the 21th day, clinical manifestations of xerosis were significantly reduced or completely disappeared. The reported results of the use of Cetaphil Restoraderm products demonstrate that moisturizers should be included to the complex therapy of chronic dermatoses accompanied by xerosis. Moreover, the subjective evaluation of these preparations by patients proves the high patients’ compliance with treatment using preparation of this line.
