Abstract:

Phototherapy is the method of choice in treating parapsoriasis en microplaque; however, outpatient dermatologists are not familiar with this technique. The results of treatment were analyzed in 23 patients with parapsoriasis en microplaque. Narrowband (311-nm) UV-B therapy was performed in 8 patients (Group 1). Combination therapy comprising topical steroids and vascular agents was used in 15 patients (Group 2). At a further follow-up, recurrences were not observed in Group 1, but they were registered in 11 (47%) patients from Group 2. In Group 1, full eruption resolution was noted in 100% of cases (n=8) on days 30-35 while in Group 2, residual skin manifestations as spots and hyperpigmentation remained in 11 (73%) patients on day 35.
