Abstract:

Examples of medical errors are presented that result from poor knowledge of physicians about clinical features of trichomycoses and methods of their diagnostics and from false interpretation of the observed features. The clinical experience of the authors indicates that griseofulvin remains the drug of choice for the treatment of microsporia whereas terbinafine (lamisil) should be prescribed as basic systemic therapy for the management of trichophytia. A variety of dosage forms of lamisil makes it possible to choose the adequate therapeutic modality with due regard for the localization and clinical features of mycosis.
