Abstract:

This open observational study has demonstrated that the labial skin is wetter and loses less moisture but is more elastic and prone to deformation in the summertime than in the winter. Biophysical characteristics of the vermilion border and slabial kin are significantly different in that the skin is more elastic and deformable but undergoes smaller transepidermal water loss (TEWL) than the vermilion. The two tissues are not significantly different in terms of humidification. In the summertime, the skin on the forehead and in the zygomatic regions is better moistened than in the winter.
