Abstract:

Aortic arch atresia is characterized by the absence of blood flow through the aortic arch and descending aorta while the anatomical connection between these structures is preserved. This anomaly is hemodynamically quite similar to interrupted aortic arch and distal perfusion is maintained through the ductus arteriosus and collateral vessels. Surgical treatment is usually required in neonatal period. We report an 11-year-old patient with aortic arch atresia and severe hypertensive syndrome. The patient underwent uneventful surgical repair with extended end-to-end anastomosis formation followed by hypotensive therapy.
