Catheter radiofrequency ablation (RFA) is preferable treatment for patients with ventricular pre-excitation syndromes. Its efficiency is currently exceeds 95%. However, in some cases there is need for prophylactic antiarrhythmic therapy. As a rule, need for it arises for a limited period of time (from diagnosis to intervention or between procedures in case of arrhythmia recurrence) or in case of RFA failure. Specific situations of antiarrhythmic therapy for Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, frequency and effectiveness of drugs from different classes are analyzed in the article. Choice of antiarrhythmic drug is shown based on electrophysiological properties of additional atrioventricular connections.
