Endoscopic restoration of the left lung main bronchi for unresectable metastatic cancer complete obstruction

With tumor obstruction of the central sections of the tracheobronchial tree in 20-30% of cases, a violation of the ventilation of the basal sections of the lung develops, which leads to a poor quality of life and an unfavorable prognosis of the course of the disease. The presence of such complications affects the life expectancy, which usually does not exceed 6 months. Given that in most cases with such a tumor prevalence, the use of surgical treatment is no longer applicable, minimally invasive endoscopic techniques for restoring airway patency may have considered relevant. As a demonstration of the modern possibilities of interventional intraluminal endoscopy in providing minimally invasive symptomatic care to patients with tumor obstruction of the central respiratory tract with signs of atelectasis, we present this clinical case.
