Abstract:

Surgical results of 151 patients with acute abdominal diseases on the back of chronic mental illness (main group) have been analysed. Control group ("acute abdomen" group) comprised of 302 patients without any mental illness. Among 151 patients of the main group 114 (75.5%) were operated on whereas in control group surgeries were performed in 265 (87.7%) patients. Along with this miniinvasive procedures were accomplished in 78 (68.4%) patients of the main group and 182 (68.7%) of the control group. Application of diagnostic and treatment endoscopy and endosurgery allows advancing diagnosis, providing in majority of cases early diagnosis verification, assuring individual therapeutic approach, lowering surgical injury and excluding unwarranted surgeries.
