Abstract:

In order to help both the healthcare professionals and the patients in choosing the high-quality treatment modalities that reduce to the minimum the risk of adverse effects of the medication therapy, the non-profit French medical journal Prescrire has published the updated list of drugs to be avoided in the clinical practice. The present review is concerned with the drugs and indications for their application with special reference to the results of their detailed analyses published in the main French edition during the seven-year period, from 2010 to 2016. Certain drugs and indications for their clinical application were verified for the first time, while others were re-evaluated taking into consideration the new available information about their therapeutic effectiveness and potential adverse effects. The review is focused on the pharmaceutical products finding the wide application in the clinical gastroenterological clinical practice in this country.
