The journal “Voprosy kurortologii, fizioterapii i lechebnoy fizicheskoy kul’tury” is the oldest Russian journal that publishes articles concerning the medical application of therapeutic physical factors. The journal was founded in1923 on the initiative of professor P.N. Obrosov, the then head of Department of Health Resort Management, personally supported by Minister for Health N.A. Semashko.

The journal “Voprosy kurortologii, fizioterapii i lechebnoy fizicheskoy kul’tury” is the oldest Russian journal that publishes articles concerning the medical application of therapeutic physical factors. The journal was founded in1923 on the initiative of professor P.N. Obrosov, the then head of Department of Health Resort Management, personally supported by Minister for Health N.A. Semashko. The journal highlights the key issues of fundamental studies, physical methods for the treatment of various diseases, recent achievements of domestic and foreign researchers, and applications of innovative technologies in the clinical practice.
The journal publishes results of the studies on mechanisms of physiological and therapeutic action of physical factors, effects of therapeutic physical training, data on the methods for the treatment, rehabilitation, primary and secondary prophylaxis, remedial therapy of various pathological conditions. The journal provides an important forum for discussions of complicated and debatable theoretical and practical problems of health resort medicine, physiotherapy, and therapeutic physical training with the participation of leading specialists in these fields. Results of research and reports of practicing physicians appearing in the journal cover the experience with the use of physical and therapeutic methods in the practical work of medical and health resort facilities, organization of physiotherapeutic services. Methodological issues and data on innovative approaches approved for clinical application by the Russian Ministry of Health are published under the headings “Guidelines for practitioners” and “New technologies” alongside with the lectures on the topical problems of health resort medicine, therapeutic physical training, and rehabilitation techniques summarizing experience with the practical use of physical methods for the treatment of various diseases. The most interesting materials are published in the section entitled “Pages of history”. The authors of the journal are leading domestic and foreign researchers as well as young specialists and practicing physiotherapists.
The journal regularly publishes reviews of the books on health resort medicine, physiotherapy, and therapeutic physical training. The everyday life of physiotherapeutic community and a broad range of events in the scientific life of specialists in health resort medicine, therapeutic physical training, and rehabilitation techniques are covered in the journal publications. Reports on the work of congresses, conferences, and symposia are published along with the information about forthcoming workshops and scientific forums.
The journal is intended for practicing physiotherapists, specialists in therapeutic physical training, and rehabilitation medicine, researchers working in these fields, and health providers affiliated with health resorts and spa facilities.
The authors and articles published in the journal “Voprosy kurortologii, fizioterapii i lechebnoy fizicheskoy kul’tury” are cited and indexed in the Russian Index of Science Citation (RISC), Web of Science (Russian Science Citation Index – RSCI), Index Medicus, Medline, and Scopus (via Medline) bibliographical databases.
It is included in the list of the leading peer-reviewed scientific journals and other editions recommended by the Higher Attestation Commission (VAK) of the Russian Federation for the publication of thesis results.

Instructions to authors
Preparing the manuscript, authors are kindly requested to adhere to the following regulations based on the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals”, developed by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors:
I.Manuscript requirements. We accept submissions strictly online, via the form available at our website http://rehabmed.pro/.
Please upload your manuscript as a Microsoft Office Word document (*.doc, *.docx and *.rtf formats).
1.Length of the manuscript from an original study, lecture or literature review (including tables and list of references) should not exceed 6000 words. Case reports should be limited to 4000 words, short reports and letters to the editor should not exceed 1500 words. Please consult the MS Word built-in statistics service prior to submission in order to find out the exact length of your manuscript. Should your manuscript exceed the aforementioned limits, the editorial board will carry out the final decision on its publication based on recommendations from your reviewer.
2.Text formatting. Lettering in Times New Roman is preferable in all cases (font size 12 pt with 1.5 line spacing and 2 cm margins). Kindly refrain from using underlining in your document (italic and bold formatting is acceptable).
3.File structure.The journal editorial board prefers to receive a manuscript as a single complete file with all figures, tables and any additional supplemental materials. Please organize your text according to the following template:
Writing an abstract.
The body of the text should start with a brief introduction, describing the paper’s significance. In the case of an original study, the body of the paper should follow a common structured approach to the description of the studies aim, its materials, methods and results, as well as Discussion and Conclusions sections.
Acknowledgements section may be presented in Russian, English or both languages. It should comprise the following:

For detailed instructions on bibliographic formatting, see «References list guidelines». The following are the principle points you should be aware of while preparing your manuscript for submission:
III.Enumerate your tables, give those a heading and clearly marked columns that would be easy to read and comprehend. Please make sure that table data is in line with the numbers in the body of the text (but does not simply duplicate them).

IV.Reduce graphical material to minimum (unless the nature of your study dictates otherwise). Photographs should be rich in contrast, illustrative artwork should be clear and of high resolution (dpi).

V.Ethics statement. In accordance with COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics) guidance authors must provide an ethics statement if the study made use of human or vertebrate animal subjects and/or tissue. Approval from the relevant body is required for studies involving:
VI.Cover letter. The journal editorial board requires authors to submit a scanned copy of a cover letter from authors team in *.pdf format. We expect a cover letter to summarize concisely why your paper is a valuable addition to the scientific literature and briefly relate your study to previously published work. Cover letter should be signed by all of your co-authors. We accept separate letters from authors if they have different affiliations declared in the manuscript.

All the manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal are peer reviewed by two independent experts who are non-members of the Editorial Board of the journal.
The journal provides peer reviewing of all the submitted materials that are within the remit of the journal for expert evaluation. All peer reviewers are the acknowledged experts who specialize in the field relevant to the reviewed materials and have had publications relevant to the topic of the article being reviewed over the past 3 years. The peer reviews are stored in the publishing and editorial office for 5 years.
The article is sent to reviewers without names or contact information of the authors (the so-called blind review).
Reviewers treat the article as confidential material and strictly follow the author’s right for non-disclosure of the data reported in the manuscript before the article is published. The reviewer may engage additional experts only with permission from the Editorial Board and on a confidential basis.
Reviewers’ comments are sent to the author without disclosing the reviewers’ identity. The Editorial Board makes a final decision whether to publish the manuscript or not after the peer reviews and authors’ answers were received. The Editorial Board sends copies of peer reviews or a substantiated rejection to the authors and also sends copies of the peer reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation if a request has been received by the Editorial Board.
In some cases, the Editorial Board can send the article for an additional peer review, including statistical and methodological reviewing.
The Editorial Board constantly monitors the quality of peer review using the Russian version of the Review Quality Instrument questionnaire (Version 3.2), van Rooyen S., Black N., Godlee F. J Clin Epidemiol 1999;52:625-9.

Online advertising or sponsorship should not impede users’ access to editorial content.
We accept advertising and sponsorship from competitors.
We do not accept advertising of uncertified drugs and equipment.
We do not accept advertising or sponsorship relating to tobacco products, or to products and services from tobacco companies, and alcohol, as well as their related companies and funds.
Advertising and sponsorship are subject to publishers’ oversight.
If a proposal is refused for reasons outside these guidelines, Media Sphere will provide an explanation.
