The journal “Arkhiv Patologii” (Archive of Pathology) is one of the oldest medical periodicals in Russia, which has been published since 1935. The journal deals with original investigations on the topical problems of general pathology and pathologic anatomy, the most important theory and practice issues of various human diseases (cancer, infections, heart and blood vessel diseases, nephropathology, occupational diseases, gastroenterological pathology, etc.), as well as experimental and geographic pathology.
Please note that the journal is published in Russian. Some articles have been translated into English and are marked as "EN-version".

The journal deals with original investigations on the topical problems of general pathology and pathologic anatomy, the most important theory and practice issues of various human diseases (cancer, infections, heart and blood vessel diseases, nephropathology, occupational diseases, gastroenterological pathology, etc.), as well as experimental and geographic pathology.
To familiarize a wide range of readers with latest advances of Russian and foreign medicine, the journal regularly publishes editorials and survey articles, reviews of the most interesting Russian and foreign books, new data on current morphology and molecular biology techniques (immunohistochemistry, electron microscopy, polymerase chain reaction, etc.). The journal covers the issues of organizing a pathology service and those of teaching pathological anatomy, regularly publishes articles on the history of pathological anatomy, and gives reports on the activities of scientific societies of pathologists and information on symposia and conferences.
The journal is intended for pathologists, pathophysiologists, forensic medicine experts and clinicians.
“Arkhiv Patologii” is indexed in the following international databases and information and reference publications: Russian Index of Science Citation (RISC), Web of Science (Russian Science Citation Index – RSCI), Scopus, PubMed/Medline, Index Medicus, and BIOSIS Previews.

When preparing a manuscript, authors should follow Recommendations on conducting, describing, editing and publishing the results of scientific work in medical journals of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE).
When reviewing an article, the editorial board can check the material using Anti-plagiarism system. If multiple borrowings are found, the editorial board acts according to the rules COPE.
In preparing the manuscript, authors should follow the Recommendations
for the Conduct, Reporting, Editing and Publication of Scholarly Work in Medical
Journals
of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.
The Editorial Board can check the material using the Anti-Plagiarism system. In the case of multiple borrowings, the Editorial Board operates in accordance with COPE rules.
1. The manuscript should be accompanied by an official application letter fr om the organization where the work was actually done and countersigned by the study supervisor (download blank form - MS Word .doc). It may be indicated whether the article is a thesis work.
2. The manuscripts should be typewritten on one side of the page with Times New Roman 14 pt, 1.5-spaced, with margins of not less than 3 cm on the left side and not less than 2 cm on the top and bottom. The manuscript should be submitted in two copies and accompanied by the electronic version.
3. Title page should contain names and initials of the authors, the manuscript title, full name of the institution (the official name is cited in Russian and in English), city. If several authors are affiliated to different organizations (cities), these organizations should be listed with numeral citation of authors’ affiliation to certain institution.
You must specify the ORCID for the author who submits the article, and preferably for each author of the article. If there is no ORCID number, you need to obtain it by registering at https://orcid.org/.
We recommend to check the correct spelling of the institution's name on the site https://grid.ac.
4. The manuscript should be accompanied by an abstract starting with full repeat of authors’ names, the title and name of organization. The structured abstract should have the following sections: the objective, material and methods, results and conclusion. At the end of the abstract 3—5 keywords should be listed.
5. Manuscripts should not exceed 12 typewritten pages. An original manuscript should contain the following components: the relevance of the problem, the objective, material and methods, results and discussion, conclusions, references.
The leading, review and discussion papers should not exceed 15 typewritten pages, case reports, methodological works and reviews — 3—4 pages.
6. The references should contain publications for last 5 years according to fundamental works. Original articles should contain no more than 20 citations, leading papers and literature reviews — no more than 50. The author is responsible for accuracy of bibliographic references.
The references should be printed on other page with each citation beginning a new line with running number according to order of citation (in the text). The order of citation:
For citation of chapter in the book, authors and title of the Chapter should be first, after dot one should put «In» with capital letter and last names of authors and editor, then book title and its publisher’s imprint; reference for Russian journals should be cited in full volume, foreign references should match the Pub Med style, then after dot the year of publishing is indicated, then after semicolon – volume number and issue number of the journal, after colon – numbers of first and last pages. Last names of authors mentioned in the manuscript must be represented with initials and they must be indicated in the references. Last names of foreign authors should be in original transcription. Bibliographic citations should be represented in the text using ciphers in square brackets.

Do not use «doi:», «dx.doi.org», etc. Within the link only hyphen is used.
There is no dot after doi and URL!
7. Submitting the experimental studies the authors should follow the «Rules for conducting study on experimental animals». Besides species, gender and number of used animals, authors must represent applied methods of anesthesia for painful procedures and methods of sacrifice.
8. The manuscript should be edited and checked by author. The narrative should be clear without long introductions and duplications.
Citations in the manuscript should be adjusted; reference should contain the source, its title, year, issue, pages.
9. Besides common abbreviations of measurments, physical, chemical and maths units and terms (e.g.,DNA), abbreviations of phrases often repeated in the text (not more than 4 abbreviations) are acceptable. All designations and abbreviations should be transcribed in the text for its first mention. Measurement units are given according to SI.
10. For Russian version special terms should be in Russian and one should use only terms in comon use in scientific literature.
11. Tables should be self-explanatory, with no duplication of the text, include title, column heads matching the content. All numeric data in the table should be checked by author and correspond with numbers in the text.
Signatures and all text data must be sent in Russian and English!
12. Figures (photographs, drawings, graphs, diagrams) should be used only if necessary. Figure legends should be typed on a separate page, the legends should be typed on a separate page. Figure legends consist of the title and explanation for figure parts, symbols, arrows and other details. Microphoto legends should contain the magnification and dye. References for tables and figures are represented in the text. The place for figure or table in the text should be marked by square in the left margin with its number.
Captions for figures and photos, notes must be in Russian and English.
13. The manuscript must be signed by all authors. It is mandatory to indicate the surname, first name and patronymic of the corresponding author, his (her) address (including the postal code), telephone number and e-mail on separate page. Publications of all manuscripts including those written by applicants for PhD with results of own investigations are free of charge.
14. The Editorial Board reserves the right to cut and correct manuscripts.
15. The manuscripts previously published or submitted to other publishers are not admitted for review. The manuscripts that are not in accordance with these instructions are returned to the authors without review.
16. All manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal are reviewed.
The reviewers work with submitted manuscripts as confidential documents strictly following the authors’ right to non-disclosure of information contained in the manuscript before its publication. Additional experts may be involved for review only with courtesy of editorial stuff and also in confidence. The comments of reviewer are sent to the author not indexed by names of reviewer. Decision of publication (or rejection of the article) is made by editorial board after receiving of reviews and author’s response.

18. Conflict of interests
For submitting the manuscript authors are responsible for disclosure of its financial and other conflict interests which can influence on their work.
All conflicts of interests should be represented in the manuscript (in the footnote at the title page).
If funded authors should indicate the sponsor’s role for determination of study design, collection, analysis and interpretation of data and also for decision for publication of obtained results. If sponsors do not participate in such activities one should notice this fact.

19. Informed consent
It is prohibited to publish
– any information identifying the patient (to represent his (her) name, initials or case record number on photographs and in descriptions and genealogic tree excepting cases of paramount scientific interest (provided the patient or his(her) parents or guardians gave the informed consent for publication). Securing informed consent should be stated in the article.
20. Human rights and animal rights
For experiments involving human bee, the authors should identify whether they conformed to the ethical standards accepted by the Committee on human experimentation ( affiliated to the institution wh ere the study was carried out or by the regional committee) or to the ethical standards accepted by the 1975 Helsinki Declaration and its revised version of 2000.
For experiments involving laboratory animals, the authors should indicate whether management and use of laboratory animals conformed to the instructions accepted at the given institution, recommendations of the national research council, and national laws.

All the manuscripts submitted for publication in the journal are peer reviewed by two independent experts who are non-members of the Editorial Board of the journal.
The journal provides peer reviewing of all the submitted materials that are within the remit of the journal for expert evaluation. All peer reviewers are the acknowledged experts who specialize in the field relevant to the reviewed materials and have had publications relevant to the topic of the article being reviewed over the past 3 years. The peer reviews are stored in the publishing and editorial office for 5 years.
The article is sent to reviewers without names or contact information of the authors (the so-called blind review).
Reviewers treat the article as confidential material and strictly follow the author’s right for non-disclosure of the data reported in the manuscript before the article is published. The reviewer may engage additional experts only with permission fr om the Editorial Board and on a confidential basis.
Reviewers’ comments are sent to the author without disclosing the reviewers’ identity. The Editorial Board makes a final decision whether to publish the manuscript or not after the peer reviews and authors’ answers were received. The Editorial Board of the Russian Journal of Anаеsthesiology and Reanimatology sends copies of peer reviews or a substantiated rejection to the authors and also sends copies of the peer reviews to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation if a request has been received by the Editorial Board.
In some cases, the Editorial Board can send the article for an additional peer review, including statistical and methodological reviewing.
The Editorial Board of the Russian Journal of Anаеsthesiology and Reanimatology constantly monitors the quality of peer review using the Russian version of the Review Quality Instrument questionnaire (Version 3.2), van Rooyen S., Black N., Godlee F. J Clin Epidemiol 1999;52:625-9.
