The paper gives the results of recent researches comparing different iodine deficiency prevention regimens in pregnant women. The continuous daily intake of potassium iodide 200 µg as part of an iodine monodrug (such as iodomarine) in the pregravid stage and 200-250 µg during pregnancy and breastfeeding is shown to be an optimal regimen for perigestational iodine prevention in women now.
